Challenges

As part of the retractable roof installation at Arthur Ashe Stadium, the United States Tennis Association (USTA) needed a weatherproof audio and broadcast system that could be installed without interfering with ongoing construction. The challenge was accessing installation points nearly 160 feet in the air—beyond the reach of traditional lifts, scaffolds, or cranes.

Solutions

Metinteractive engineered and installed 24 custom JBL outdoor speaker clusters using single-man hoists, along with Lab Gruppen amplifiers and Media Matrix DSPs to match existing systems. Custom speaker hardware was fabricated from ½-inch aluminum plate to ensure durability and precision. The system was rigorously tested and installed without disrupting the roof construction.
